The therapy consists of injecting plasma obtained from the blood of people cured of the virus in Covis-19 patients (hyperimmune plasma or convalescent plasma). The plasma of people cured of the coronavirus which is rich in antibodies against the disease. These antibodies, injected into the blood of the sick, would help the body fight the virus.
Therapy is awaiting a definitive protocol but the results are currently very satisfactory. Intensive care times are reduced by 30% compared to the usual (5-6 days against 15 on average).
There are some unconvinced virologists, also the pharmaceutical companies would not have to gain: in fact, plasma costs very little. It is a fact that there have been no deaths from Covid-19 in the Carlo Poma hospital in Modena in the last month. Also heal desperate cases.
It is not a total solution and should be administered only in coincidence of aggravation but the results, pending a well-defined protocol, give hope for good.
A controversy flows on social media in reference to the reduced cost of treatment, with speculations on the reticence of ‘well-known’ specialists suspected of conniving with the business of pharmaceutical companies.
